Enfrentar el cambio climático se ha convertido en un reto de grandes proporciones para la economía mundial; con el objetivo de alcanzar la sustentabilidad del modelo energético, que busca sustituir energías fósiles por energías renovables. En este sentido, la electromovilidad se presenta como una de las principales alternativas del transporte en todas sus vertientes, para así reducir el impacto ambiental generado por las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero.
La transición hacia un transporte sustentable es un desafío común para todos los proveedores de logística, debido a la eliminación gradual de motores de combustión interna (ICE por sus siglas en inglés) y la demanda de soluciones de transporte sustentable. De acuerdo con Ama NewYork, 72% de los compradores B2B tienen más probabilidades de comprar a empresas socialmente responsables.
Por otra parte, un estudio revelado por el CEPAL muestra que para el año 2050, las ciudades albergarán a dos tercios de la población, consumirán el 75 % de los recursos naturales del mundo y producirán el 50% de los residuos mundiales. Asociado a esta dinámica, las ciudades son emisoras de aproximadamente el 70% de los GEI y de la generación del 80% de los residuos sólidos que contaminan aire, suelo y cuerpos de agua. En ese contexto, la electromovilidad y la aplicación de la economía circular, se convierten en una poderosa herramienta para disminuir las emisiones y hacer las ciudades más inclusivas y resilientes.

La transición al transporte sostenible
Los vehículos eléctricos traen consigo una serie de beneficios para persuadir a las empresas de logística. Estos pueden variar desde incentivos fiscales de los diferentes gobiernos, funcionamiento silencioso para la distribución en ciudad como la última milla, hasta la sustitución de piezas móviles remanufacturadas y de reúso, que prometen reducir los costos generales de mantenimiento y un ciclo sustentable.
Cuando los cambios se suscitan, suponen una mejora en sí; sin embargo, de la mano vienen interrogantes sobre los nuevos modelos y formas de hacer las cosas, específicamente las empresas logísticas en la cadena de frío deben considerar la integración de sus unidades de refrigeración de transporte (TRU) en la amplia transición hacia la electricidad. Esta adaptación es crucial debido a la necesidad de mantener la temperatura controlada y la gran cantidad de vehículos refrigerados operando.
La autonomía es una inquietud clave en la adopción de transporte electrificado, ya que su consumo de energía de la batería puede afectar el alcance general. Además, muchos vehículos de la cadena de frío aún no están listos para la conversión eléctrica y requieren salidas específicas para alimentar las TRU. La ‘ansiedad de carga’ también surge, impulsando la demanda de datos de batería en tiempo real para optimizar el uso entre eléctrico y diésel; por lo que la planificación cuidadosa será vital para abordar la inevitable “ansiedad” por quedarse sin energía, en el peor momento posible.
Afrontar el futuro con confianza
Con la fecha límite de 2030 para las ventas de vehículos ICE acercándose, la transición a vehículos eléctricos plantea desafíos para las flotas de cadena de frío. “Con una planificación cuidadosa, estos obstáculos pueden transformarse en oportunidades.
